Par Avion

Par l’oiseau? Per chance? Non. Although I chose the lightest postcards I could find, which is to say I bought the postcards that were available, this bird – for those of you who are taking notes – this Great tit (Parus major) – could never, nor would it have the inclination to, carry my unwieldy postcards all the way to the steep hillside in California that my lady friend calls home.

If you can read and understand French you already know that this bird lives in the mailbox. Some kindly person posted the sign to request that people use another mailbox in respect for the young family. I try to avoid complaining about the great country that I live in, but sometimes it is irresistible. If this had occurred in a mailbox in the United States, I suspect that the baby birds would have been “relocated.”
