Our first day photographing last year’s tour, the stage of the Col d’Aubisque, expected to sort things out, settle the score, put Andy in yellow (maybe) or even the unfortunate Alberto if he could muster just half of the form he’d shown/proven at the Giro.
We were rewarded by France and it’s reality, it’s surprises, it’s pastoral enigma, and honored to photograph a couple of foreshadowing Frenchmen off the front, a world champion stealing victories in the mountains, chasing springtime classics rivals, and a glimpse of a neatly decided yellow jersey winner, Australia’s first.
