Cadel Evans Wins Stage Four of the 2011 TDF

Stage Four—172.5km
Lorient to Mûr-de-Bretagne

Cadel Evans wins a gritty finish on stage four to the Mûr-de-Bretagne. This is the kind of stage only The Tour can deliver, with GC riders who love sharp climbs and classic riders with memories of Liege. Contador looked to gather some seconds with an attack separating the bunch but after his premature celebration at the line, it’s starting to look like a search for consolation prizes for a tough first week. Observations: Frank Schleck looks like his brother! The Mighty Thor hung with the skinny boys. Those Highroad teammates who pondered Cavendish’s chances…Nice One! Gilbert fifth? We are still processing this one.

The GC has Thor at the top, but cycling fans will have to wait for the Pyrenees to make some sense out of this year’s tour. If Highroad can take their boys over the Côte de Gurunhuel tomorrow Badger Cav might be sinking his teeth into Garmin. Check back for blood.
