FULTON COLD STORAGE + SRAM HQ

Photographs by Samuel Copeland

Brick by brick this city has been built and torn down a thousand times. The Fulton Cold Storage building is not just another building to be reconstructed with aluminum + glass walls in the city of Chicago. Its scale speaks of another time of meatpackers, train lines, and names that echo to Chicagoans like the Fulton Market, the Randolph Market and the tumultuous Haymarket. SRAM Headquarters is moving into a couple of the floors, recreating their semi-famous indoor track. Graphically bold Components + lots of dudes + some women + lycra + the whir of SolidWorks + clicking levers + machined prototypes will share a square footage where pickled gizzards + sides of beef + boxes of bacon + pig snouts + buffalo wings found a home.
